The acting headteacher at Keiss Primary School and Nursery said that parents and children had a "super time" celebrating the King’s Coronation on Friday, May 5.

Parents were able to see their children’s work and they were impressed with the "great learning happening in the school", added the acting headteacher, Sylvie Sinclair.

She said: "This was followed by a beautiful picnic. The school cook , Mrs [Nadine] Stewart helped by Mrs [Gayle] Lowe made a wonderful selection of sandwiches, pizzas, sausage rolls, salads, and more. "After this lovely lunch, children enjoyed taking part in a variety of games such as 'Don’t Drop Charles' and tug of war where they showed great team spirit."

Even parents had a go at the tug of war and Ms Sinclair said it was interesting to see the determination on their faces. "They were great sports and we can’t thank them enough.

"We had a wonderful afternoon and it would not have been possible without the hard work from our staff, pupils and, of course, the participation of the parents and families.

"I would like to thank the pupils, the staff and parents for making this special day an event to remember."
