Temperate conditions over the weekend provided the perfect opportunity for visitors to enjoy a walk around the gardens of Thrumster House for its annual Snowdrop Day.

It was also a chance for Yarrows Heritage Trust (YHT) to hold a fundraising event outside the stately home, with almost £200 being raised to help renovate the former railway station at Thrumster.

Catherine Macleod from Thrumster House said: "We raised £194.86 during the two days which will help connect the renovated Thrumster railway station to the grid so we can run events from there and have displays for the local community and visitors to our area. There is so much heritage, both natural and built in the Yarrows area, and there is a need for a point of information."

There were fun nature activities for the kids, as well as have-a-go archaeology event in which little children could dig for hidden artefacts buried in a sand pit. YHT looks forward to holding a similar day for the up-and-coming daffodils at Thrumster next month.

Members of the Trust, which promotes local archaeology, were there to talk about the recent Swartigill burn dig, where a few local people signed up to volunteer for next year's event in August.
