Gemma is a typical boisterous Staffy puppy looking for a new home and is currently being cared for by the Scottish SPCA (SSPCA) Caithness and Sutherland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

This mischievous but clever girl loves food and toys and responds well to training but, as she has lived in a kennel environment all her life, she will need a new owner with lots of patience to help her adjust to living in a home.

Gemma can also be quite wary of new people, especially children and groups of people. She is looking for new owners who are quiet, gentle and understanding. A quiet adult-only home would be perfect for her but homes with teenagers would also be considered. She will also need someone prepared to go back-to-basics with toilet training.

Gemma has had corrective surgery on both eyes and any new owner would need to be aware of her condition.

Can you give an animal a loving home? Every year the SSPCA’s Caithness and Sutherland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Balmore, near Thurso, provides a safe haven for all sorts of animals that have nowhere else to go. This can be for a variety of reasons – abuse, abandonment, death of their owner or even the simple fact their owner is no longer able to look after them.

While they’re loved at the Caithness and Sutherland centre, the staff want just one thing for the animals in their care – for them to find a loving forever home.

If you think you’re that person and have room in your life for a pet, visit scottishspca.org/rehome/rehome

All rehoming is taking place online at the moment.
