Police have confirmed that a person has died after being struck by a train on the rail line between Invergordon and Dingwall on Wednesday night.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Alness railway station at 7.43pm on March 29 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and file will be prepared for the procurator fiscal."
