Pentland Ferries out of action this week

Pentland Ferries will not be operating any sailings between Caithness and Orkney this week when its vessel goes into dry dock for essential maintenance.

The Pentalina, which sails between Gills Bay and St Margaret’s Hope, is undergoing its annual refit this week. The service is expected to be out of action until Monday, January 11.

Serco Northlink has meanwhile announced that the Isle of Lewis will deputise during the two week absence of the Hamnavoe from the Scrabster to Stromness service when it undergoes its annual inspection.

The vessel will go into dry dock in Rosyth on February 29 and is scheduled to return to service on March 16. Serco is to rent the Isle of Lewis from CalMac Ferries to carry out the crossings.
