Peak time train services go up in price

TRAIN fares for peak time tickets and season tickets on rail services across Scotland have gone up one per cent.

But off-peak train fares have been frozen for the third year in a row.

The July 2015 Retail Prices Index (RPI) was used to determine the rate of increase in regulated fares on ScotRail services which came into force on Saturday.

Off peak fares will remain the same price as last year meaning 40 per cent of ScotRail journeys stay at the same level.

Over 92 million passengers travelled on ScotRail services last year, which was an increase of six million compared to 2014.
