Bowling club members in Thurso have raised hundreds of pounds to help people with Parkinson’s in Caithness.

The money was collected at a recent fundraiser run by the Britannia Bowling Club during the Bruce Shield trophy presentation dinner at the Park Hotel.

Neil Morrison, chairman of the Caithness Parkinson’s Support Group, accepted a cheque for £430 from the bowling club’s Andy Nicolson.

Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world and increasing numbers of people are being diagnosed in Caithness. The Caithness Parkinson’s Support Group is an informal, welcoming group, which exists to provide friendship, encouragement, information and support to anyone affected by the condition.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 2pm, alternating between the Pentland Hotel in Thurso and the Norseman Hotel in Wick, and anyone with Parkinson’s is invited to attend. Family members, friends and carers are also very welcome. You can find the group on Facebook by searching for Caithness Support Group Parkinson’s UK, or contact Neil Morrison on neilsm13@hotmail.com
