A Christmas fayre held at the Seaview Hotel, John O'Groats on Saturday afternoon has raised £803 for the planned new playpark in the village.

The event was the latest fundraiser for the project, with a raffle for a Ninja air fryer proving very popular.

Local primary school pupil Kara Manson, from Freswick, was hailed the "fundraising superstar" after boosting the funds by £45 selling festive headbands she made herself.

A good mix of local stallholders took part in the fayre including local crafts and produce. Yvonne Shearer displayed her Christmas Creations – everything from melted snowmen in bottles, to decorated loo roll and many more quirky festive crafts.

Pleased with how things went, organiser and fundraiser Mairi Anne Cormack said: "If anyone has any fundraising ideas or wants to join up to do something in association with another business, or charity, as a joint effort we are always up for ideas."
