Organised walk on Sunday will show Wick Paths Group work
Members of the public are being invited to take part in an organised walk this weekend to see some of the work completed so far by Wick Paths Group and find out about the next phase of improvements.
The walk is scheduled for Sunday, March 6, starting at the old herring mart at Wick harbour at 10.30am. It will initially follow a route around the south side of the bay.
The group's next big project is to upgrade the paths through the South Head quarries, refurbish the stone sculptures there and provide more picnic benches.
In a message to supporters, Wick Paths Group secretary John Bogle stated: "The walk is open to everyone so please bring along your friends. The walk will be just under 6km and should be completed in less than one-and-a-half hours at a leisurely pace.
"The intention is to view some of the work we have already done and to see what is planned this year. Part of the walk will be over the Grey Bools path (the track linking the end of the Trinkie road with the old rifle range) and this can be very wet and slippery, therefore walking boots or strong waterproof shoes are recommended. Please dress appropriately for early March weather in Caithness."
