MEMBERS of the public are being invited to an open day taking place in Nucleus near Wick John O'Groats Airport on Saturday, January 4.

Although the guided tours at the Nuclear and Caithness Archive building are already fully booked, other visitors on the day will still find a variety of things to see and do.

An exhibition of documents and calligraphy will be one of the activities taking place, with those attending the event also being given the chance to speak to an archive assistant about any research queries they might have.

Those booked on one of the three guided tours – 11.30, 12.30 and 1.30 – will need to remember to bring identification with them. Tours at the Nucleus have proved popular and the ones for this event were snapped up by December 18.

On the archive Facebook page organisers say: "Don't worry if you haven't managed to book a tour this time – keep an eye on our page for future events, and come along and enjoy the rest of the open day. Remember all ages are welcome."

Entry to the open day is free
