Online survey for Lybster area planning initiative
A NEIGHBOURHOOD planning consultation for the Lybster, Clyth and Latheron area that had to be cancelled due to lockdown restrictions is now being offered as an online survey.
Some weeks ago, Latheron, Lybster and Clyth Community Development Company (LLCCDC) had been conducting a series of consultations in its area for the purpose of neighbourhood planning.
However, due to Covid-19, some of the Planning for Real consultation sessions had to be cancelled.
Tom Briscoe, centre manager of LLCCDC, said: "Obviously we’re disappointed that we couldn’t complete all of the consultation sessions which were going really well but our priority at the moment is to observe the government guidelines and keep the community of Caithness safe."
Planning for Real is a consultation technique that involves using a 3D model of the village which allows residents to register their views on a range of issues; to work together to identify priorities; and in partnership with local agencies go on to develop an action plan for change.
In light of this, LLCCDC is now offering an online survey to gauge local opinion.
The survey is open to those residents living in Latheron, Latheronwheel, Lybster and Clyth areas and is divided into 10 sections – including a section on wind farm community funding.

"The survey will take between 10 to 30 minutes to complete depending on your responses," Tom said.
"We are also keen to find out how our communities would prioritise the community funding from wind farms which amounts to many thousands of pounds each year."
