Online launch for Susan Crow's Child of the Earth
Caithness author Susan Crow has had a positive response to her latest book, Child of the Earth.
It was launched digitally in April, with online events designed to coincide with the Easter holiday and Earth Day.
Child of the Earth is the first of the Crowvus books to be launched in that way, due to the coronavirus restrictions.
It is the companion book to Susan’s earlier bestselling memoir, Child of the Isle, which has sold widely across Britain. Child of the Earth mixes memoir, nature writing, and creative poetry and prose.
Susan says: “I wasn’t sure whether we should postpone the launch, given what is happening in the world at the moment. But then I realised that more and more people are looking to nature to give them hope, and I feel so humbled that my book is a small part of making that happen.

“I’m not very confident on the computer – I have been asking for a lot of help on the technical side of things – but I think many of our generation are starting to realise that we can make technology work for us in these difficult times.
“Just to know that I am sharing my deep love for nature and conservation with readers across the world is a genuine privilege.”
Child of the Earth is available as an eBook and a paperback on Amazon. Susan will be undertaking a blog tour starting on May 11.
The book is described by the publisher as "a nest egg of memories and anecdotes teased from a life uplifted by an appreciation of the natural world".
It covers memories of childhood in rural England, raising a family in Orkney and Lincolnshire, and retirement in northern Scotland.
