One person feared dead after aircraft crashes on the Black Isle across the Moray Firth

One person is feared dead after a light aircraft crashed into a field on the Black Isle.

A major rescue operation was launched after the aircraft, believed to be a gyrocopter, came down between the villages of Avoch and Munlochy.

The alarm was raised at 12.55pm today.

It is not known how many people were on board the two-seater but it is understood that one person was killed.

Police blocked off roads around the scene.
