The story of Wick harbour, and how it shaped the development of the town during the herring boom and beyond, is explored in a new online exhibition.

WK: History of a Harbour is launched on Friday (September 30) by the Nucleus archive centre. It is an online version of the exhibition held at Nucleus last year as part of the Northern Lights Festival.

Archive assistant Valerie Amin said: "We hope anyone who was unable to attend the exhibition in person will be able to enjoy it online instead."

A link to the exhibition can be found on the High Life Highland website.

It examines the events and people who have been an enduring part of the harbour’s history and heritage. Historical archives are reproduced, giving a deeper insight into the goings-on around the harbour.

The exhibition looks at the lives of fishermen, herring gutters, coopers and curers, and there is a specially curated video presentation.
