A LOCAL dance school is experiencing a resurgence and is looking forward to a successful 2020.

NRG Dance restarted in April last year after a 12-year break to allow principal coach Tracy Sinclair to bring up her family. The group had previously run from 1994 to 2007.

Now with more than 70 members, the dance school comprises mostly pupils who attend for fun and exercise in the Royal British Legion club rooms in Thurso, with classes for children aged three upwards who want to learn basic dance technique, freestyle, lyrical/slow dance and other styles. But there is also a competitive group which has enjoyed success since attending its first competition in October.

Tracy said: “The results that my pupils achieved at their first three competitions were outstanding.

“My competitive dancers work on their routines for a minimum of three months before they attend their first competition as this ensures they are of a good standard and feel confident and happy with their routines.

“To achieve 100 per cent of the possible finals exceeded my expectations and the feedback and comments I received from other teaching professionals about the high standard of my dancers was just wonderful.

“The enjoyment that I get from working with these kids to fulfil their potential is huge and I am looking forward to seeing what can be achieved in 2020.”
