Esther sang “Air an Traigh” and only one point separated her from the competition winner.

The youngster, who also excelled at the Caithness and Sutherland Provincial Mod in June, attends traditional music lessons run weekly by Fèis air an Oir in Strathy Hall.

Her tutor, Catriona MacLeod of Strathnaver, commented: “We are all so delighted for Esther. She is a natural performer and did us all proud.

“She carried her success in her first local Mod all the way to competing and doing so well at national level. She is a great ambassador for the area.”

The Royal National Mod ran from October 13-21.
