Nigel Lowe takes on senior NDA appointment at Forss
NIGEL Lowe will be joining the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to take up the position as head of programme – DSRL, Dounreay, later this summer in Freswick House at Forss.
Nigel joins the NDA from the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston where he has worked since October 2006. He started his career in the nuclear industry with the UKAEA before moving to fast-moving consumer goods, management consultancy and pharmaceuticals.
As a graduate chartered engineer, with experience in programme and contract management gained through assignments both in the UK and overseas, Nigel has more than 20 years’ managerial experience working in highly regulated, safety conscious industries.
Commenting on his appointment Nigel said: "I am looking forward to taking up my position with the NDA in Caithness very much – it’s a wonderful part of the country and I hope to be able to start to meet the local stakeholders and get to know people very soon. I am extremely pleased and excited to be joining the NDA as it continues to meet the challenges of the United Kingdom’s nuclear legacy.
"For me these challenges are about delivering tangible results, providing value for money for the taxpayer, serving the local community and achieving all of this without ever compromising safety."
Nigel replaces Randall Bargelt who left the NDA in October to take up a position with US National Nuclear Laboratory in Idaho.
