NHS Highland is to host a series of pop-up hubs in Caithness this year to highlight a range of community services available from different organisations.

Among other things, visitors will have the opportunity to find out about new frailty services – with the chance to try out some simple chair-based exercises designed to help prevent falls and support wellbeing.

NHS Highland staff will be on hand to give advice about small aids and adaptations for the home to help people remain safe, healthy and independent.

Representatives from different community groups will also be present to provide information on services such as housing, social security and cycling. Refreshments will be available.

The pop-up hubs will take place at Dunbeath and District Centre on Thursday, March 21 (10am to 2pm); Caithness House, Wick, on Thursday, May 16 (noon to 4pm); Reay village hall on Thursday, July 4 (10am to 2pm); Canisbay hall on Thursday, September 12 (11am to 3pm); and the Royal British Legion club, Thurso, on Saturday, November 23 (10am to 2pm).

Lesley Martin, community service improvement practitioner at NHS Highland, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to access information on lots of different community services they may not be aware of all from one place, as well as enjoy a general chat over a coffee and cake.

“We’re grateful to all the organisations and funders who have made these events possible.”
