NHS Highland records no new positive tests for coronavirus in past 24 hours

THE NHS Highland area has gone the past 24 hours without recording any fresh positive tests for Covid-19.

It came as Scotland as a whole confirmed just five cases in the past day.

The country has also gone four days without registering any further Covid-19 fatalities – although officials have cautioned that lower figures are often recorded over weekends. The death toll among those who tested positive remained unchanged on 2482.

There have been 375 confirmed cases of Covid-19 reported in the NHS Highland area since the start of the pandemic, against a backdrop of 18,241 nationally.

Some 452 people who had tested positive were receiving treatment in Scotland's hospitals last night – a figure which was unchanged from the previous day. Of those, only five were being treated at NHS Highland sites – down one from the previous day's update.

NHS Grampian (1419 cases overall), Tayside (1768), Orkney (nine), Shetland (54) and the Western Isles (seven) have all recorded no new positive tests for Covid-19 since yesterday's update.
