NHS Highland Covid-19 cases stand at 313 after slight rise

THE number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the NHS Highland area has risen to 313 after a further three tests came back positive overnight.
The slight rise came amid an increase of 215 cases across Scotland as a whole, taking the nation's confirmed coronavirus total to 12,924. Fifty-nine further people who tested positive have also died since the last update, raising the death toll to 1762.
The true figures are all believed to be higher.
Although NHS Highland recorded a marginal increase in confirmed cases, the number of people receiving treatment for the virus in its hospitals fell by one, to 12.
That was reflected nationally, with the number of people in hospital with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 falling to 1587 from 1632 the previous day. Intensive care numbers also fell by three to 86.
Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland once again all recorded no new cases of the virus.
NHS Grampian reported 36 fresh diagnoses to take its total to 973. Hospitalised coronavirus patient numbers in that region remained almost the same, down one to 93 – 11 of whom were in intensive care.
