NOMINATIONS for the Scottish Health Awards 2011 are being sought from people across the Highlands before the deadline of Monday, September 12.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the awards and the judges are once again looking for Scotland’s finest NHS workers and volunteers to be recognised at a glittering award ceremony.

There is a category to celebrate the commitment of loyal staff from every area of healthcare.

This year there are also a number of new categories including the Care for Long-term Illness Award, Care at Home Award and Health Promoting Business Award.

Patients and staff are being asked to nominate healthcare staff in the Highlands who they feel deserve to be recognised.

Anne Gent, NHS Highland director of human resources, said: "I would urge our patients, members of the public and members of staff to nominate an individual or team they feel should be recognised as a Highland health hero.

"Our staff are known for going that extra mile and to have it recognised in this way brings a significant morale boost to the organisation."
