Two new members of staff have been taken on by Caithness Mental Health Support Group in an effort to build momentum for the organisation.

The group also announced that it would be working alongside a London-based consultancy firm in a collaborative approach to prioritise, promote and develop the work that is carried out by the service.

Caithness Mental Health Support Group (CMHSG) is dedicated to supporting people living with mental health challenges in the county and those who are socially isolated.

Individuals are supported through two community drop-in centres, Stepping Stones in Thurso and The Haven in Wick.

The aim of the centres is to provide a balance of activities, support and understanding in relaxed surroundings, which encourage an increase in confidence and self-esteem amongst service users.

The charity is managed by Chris McKenzie, who leads a team of 20 support workers who facilitate the work that goes on within the centres.

Two part-time deputy managers have recently been appointed to a job-share post. Davie Snashall, who takes on the operational role, and Nina Mackay, administration, will be jointly responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the service programmes with a view of producing positive outcomes.

This is a one-year post and will be supported by the Habitus Collective, a consultancy firm which will work alongside and collaborate with staff, the manager and the board of directors to advise as well as create new opportunities for service development.

Chris McKenzie, CMHSG manager said: "I am pleased to announce the recent appointment of Davie and Nina, in their roles within the service, as well as welcoming the Habitus Collective onboard.

"I see this as an excellent opportunity to move things forward in a positive manner, establish partnerships and build on and maintain the good work that has already been achieved by the existing staff."
