A set of new hospital trolleys have been donated to a Caithness healthcare setting thanks to money raised by a local support group.

The Friends of Caithness General Hospital handed over three Stryker patient trolleys to the accident and emergency department.

The trolleys, which cost a total of £11,250, have replaced three older pieces of equipment which staff said were less user-friendly.

Senior charge nurse Victoria Worrell, who accepted the donation on behalf of the department, said: "The Stryker trolleys offer patients a significantly more comfortable place to rest while being assessed and treated.

"Staff and patients are benefiting from the new trolleys and it is so much easier for staff to manoeuvre them around the department. Many of the functions can now be undertaken by one member of staff. This is a great benefit to the department."
