A PARENT and toddler group has been set up in Dunbeath.

The body meets twice a week in the local community hall, although more days could be added if there was demand, said chairman Julie Macdonald.

She said it was decided to form the group because there were now more young children in the village.

The Dunbeath Parent and Toddler Group was launched last week and will operate according to the policies and procedures of the Care and Learning Alliance.

Julie was previously involved in running the Ormlie Toddler Group and the Treats child care group, both in Thurso, before she moved to Dunbeath.

"The parents decided to set up the group as there are more kids coming into the village," she said.

"We meet twice a week at the moment but that could increase if the demand is there."

A competition was held among local schoolchildren to find a logo for the new group.

The winner was Carlie Macleod who received a £10 voucher for her efforts.

Her entry was chosen by former Dunbeath headteacher Isobel McIvor.
