THE Queen Mother’s affection for Caithness is set to be told through a brand new recipe book.

A Taste of Mey relates her love for the county through a series of anecdotes and her favourite recipes.

The book gives a rare insight into the life of the Queen Mother during her time at the Castle of Mey.

It contains stories of picnics she has taken throughout the county alongside tales of the castle itself.

The book, which has been compiled and edited by Christina Murray, wife of the castle’s administrator, James, also has recipes for a range of starters, meat, vegetables, poultry, game and fish dishes, puddings, savouries and baking.

Contributors include the Queen Mother’s former head chef, Michael Sealey, chairman of the Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust Ashe Windham and the niece of HM The Queen, Lady Elizabeth Anson.

All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust and will go towards the maintenance of the historic building.
