Navy cyclists complete charity end-to-ender

ROYAL Navy officers pedalled their way from Lands End to John O’Groats as they raised money for charity which improves the lives of those who have served their country.

Eight members of HMS Vanguard, led by Lieutenant Commander Scott Sobers and Lieutenant Lee Arnold, on Thursday completed the gruelling challenge of cycling just over 900 miles to raise money for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines charity and SSAFA.

Both offer practical, emotional and financial support enabling serving and former naval personnel and their families to have a better quality of life. The team hope to raise as much money as possible to enable these charities to continue this vital work.

The event began on Monday, June 9 and team finished the gruelling and physically demanding challenge in just 11 days.

The eight men were Lt Cdr Scott Sobers, RN Lt Lee Arnold, WO2 Iain Long, CPO Michael Firth, CPO Iain Carr, PO Andrew Leonard, LH John Sheedy, Support Driver LET Colin Hart.
