IT was a case of history repeating itself at the Nativity play staged in Castletown Primary School this year.

Mary was played by Alba Mackenzie, whose father Marc had been Joseph in the school production 24 years earlier, while the modern Joseph was played by Jordan Shearer, whose mother Claire Shearer had been Mary in the same show.

This year’s production was hailed as a great success and the nursery children delighted all in the audience with their dramatised song.

The children of P1-4 performed the musical play Cock-a-Doodle Christmas and P5/6 played a selection of seasonal tunes on Belleplates.

The P6/7 pupils held a topical debate on whether Christmas should be banned. This they did with great enthusiasm, their respective views being presented passionately yet with respect for their opponents.

This was followed by a selection of Christmas songs from P4-7.

The concert was rounded off with the traditional whole-school singing of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
