BOLD comedy fans game for a laugh have been issued with a special challenge ahead of a triple bill at Eden Court this weekend.

As the Gilded Balloon Comedy Circuit blows into town, laugh fans are being asked if they’re brave enough to take front row seats for Sunday night’s cutting-edge showcase.

It features the contrasting talents of Scott Agnew, Raymond Mearns and Keara Murphy.

Though described as "6’5″, burly and boozy", Agnew, named Scottish comedian of the year in 2008, has scored critical acclaim for his confessional humour. Stage fright is unlikely to be a problem for a man who has performed in front of 12,000 at RockNess, hosted Glasgow’s Gay Pride march and presented on MTV.

Mearns was a founder member of the improvisational comedy sketch group Dance Monkey Boy Dance! which enjoyed a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe. He’s been hailed by Billy Connolly as "a man who knows how to swear, properly!" and appeared in improvisational sketches at the first New York Comedy Festival.

Actress and comedian Murphy has been performing stand-up since 1998 and has appeared in clubs the length and breadth of the country.

The Sunday evening gig starts at 8pm. Ticket info from Eden Court’s box office on 01463 234234.
