Man charged with numerous break-ins to Elgin businesses

A man has been charged with breaking-in and attempting to break-in to four different businesses in Elgin.

The 51-year-old man allegedly committed the series of crimes over the last two months.

They include a break-in to the Pancake Place on High Street on October 23, an attempted break-in to Hair and Body Mechanics on South Street on September 28, theft by housebreaking at JC Dawson’s Butchers on Batchen Street on September 16 and a break-in at the Mental Health and Wellness Centre on Batchen Street on August 17.

Elgin Police Scotland sergeant Scott Brander said: “We are grateful to members of the community who have assisted us while enquiries have been ongoing. We continue to urge anyone who sees any suspicious activity to contact us as soon as possible with as much information on 101.”

The man is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today.
