Women's groups in Caithness have until August 15 to apply for funding from the 2011 Women’s Fund for Scotland.

AN appeal has been issued to women’s groups in Caithness to apply for funding before it is too late.

Local organisations predominantly run by or for women, and women-only projects that seek to support and empower women to turn their lives around, have until next month to apply for funding from the Scottish Community Foundation’s 2011 Women’s Fund for Scotland.

The foundation established the Women’s Fund for Scotland in 2002, supported by the Scottish Government, to focus resources on projects that seek to enable women to develop themselves and their communities and to improve their own quality of life.

Grants of between £2000 and £5000 are available now if the application successfully addresses one of three outcomes – women are more equipped to access opportunities that will lead to employment; women are able to access employment; women have access to income advice and support.

The Scottish Community Foundation will also distribute funds from a private charitable trust that supports women, children and young people who are at risk and facing social deprivation.

Projects which tackle serious issues and help people to turn their lives around are given priority. Grants of up to £10,000 a year for up to three years are available.

For further information on this particular funding contact Jennifer McPhail on 0141 341 4964.

Application forms to apply for a grant for women’s projects can be downloaded from www.scottishcf.org/grantsforwomen or those interested can contact the foundation on 0141 341 4960 or by e-mail at grants@scottishcf.org

Deadlines for submitting an application and committee dates when you will receive a decision for 2011 are as follows – First deadline: August 15, committee date October 3. Second deadline: October 17, committee date December 6.
