Primary seven pupils show the sum raised for UNICEF from their Town of Nations booklet.

A BOOKLET produced by primary seven pupils at Hillhead Primary School in Wick has raised £241 for UNICEF.

The Town of Nations publication looked at the personal stories of eight people living in Wick who were born and brought up in a different country.

Individuals from Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Poland, France, Denmark and the Philippines all took part.

The booklets were sold to parents and to the wider community through a number of shops in the town.

Class teacher Sandra Inrig said: “We were delighted with how much the pupils enjoyed finding out about the lives of different people in our town. The experience really helped them learn about other countries and cultures.

“UNICEF seemed the natural choice for the profits from the booklet because this charity helps children across so many different countries.”

The booklet is one of a number of international education activities which Hillhead has been involved with recently.
