A POLICE force believes missing man Steven Hope may be in the Inverness area.

Lothian and Borders Police is appealing for help in tracing Mr Hope, of Peebles.

The 43-year-old went missing in the Scottish Borders last month. He was last seen around 9pm on Wednesday, 24th August, in the Greenside area of Peebles.

Since he disappeared, he has failed to make any contact with friends or family and there are now serious concerns for his well-being.

It is understood Mr Hope has friends in Inverness and may be in the city.

He is described as white, 5ft 10ins, of stocky build, with a clean-shaven complexion and green eyes. He has a celtic tribal tattoo on his back between his shoulder blades and an eight inch skin graft on his right arm. He speaks with a Scottish accent.

"Despite two weeks of enquiries, officers are yet to trace Steven and would urge him to make contact with loved ones or police immediately and let us know he is safe and well," said a police spokesman.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police station, or alternatively Lothian and Borders’ divisional headquarters in Hawick on 01450 375 051.
