Another thrashing for Brora
Clachnacuddin 5, Brora Rangers 0
BRORA Rangers avoided a third successive 6-0 defeat in their final match of the season against Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park last night, but only just.
Brora had the first effort on goal in the fourth minute when the ball broke to Craig Ross on the edge of the 18-yard box but the winger screwed his shot wide of the near post.
But it was Clach who took the lead in the seventh minute when Chris Ross’s low drive was redirected past Brora goalkeeper Sean McCarthy by Martin Callum from close range.
Brora’s response was almost immediate and Ryan Rutherford forced a fine save from Clach keeper David Harrison.
The Lilywhites doubled their advantage nine minutes from the break when Allan Pollock finished off a fine flowing move with a low drive into the far corner of the net.
It got worse for Brora a couple of minutes later when McCarthy could only parry a Pollock free kick and Colin Williamson followed up to scramble the ball into the net.
Clach added a fourth in first half injury time when a penetrating run down the left from Scott Graham set up Urquhart for a simple finish.
McCarthy was the busier keeper at the start of the second half. He did well to smother a shot from Graham who was clean through on goal in the 53 minute and he held an overhead kick from Williamson on the line a minute later.
Clach substitute Scott Morrison added a fifth goal in the 62 minute when he tucked away an Urquhart cut back in the 62 minute.
