Ross-shire set to host national road race

CROMARTY will welcome the top cyclists in the country when the village hosts the Scottish National Road Racing Championships later this month.

Moray Firth Cycling Club (MFCC) have successfully bid for the cycling race to come north for the first time in over 10 years when it takes place on Sunday, August 19.

The women’s race will be 50 miles with the men’s race 100 miles long.

The course is a 17 mile loop with women doing three laps and men doing six.

Aberdeen cyclist Mark Robertson has confirmed he will attempt to defend his road race title later this month.

But a new women’s champion will be crowned after last year’s winner Julie Erskine announced her retirement from the sport but she will be at the event.
