Guests get a taste of new Shin restaurant
A TASTE of things to come was served up at Falls of Shin visitor centre as the new restaurant operator previewed the meals visitors to the attraction can expect.
Catering at the centre, which opened last year on the site of a previous facility which was destroyed in a fire in 2013, brings award-winning Scottish food specialist Mac & Wild back to its roots.
Company co-founder Andy Waugh is originally from Ardgay, just six miles away, and much of the meat served at Falls of Shin will be supplied by his family's game-butchering business Ardgay Game, which also supplies Mac & Wild's two London restaurants in Fitzrovia and Devonshire Square.
Mr Waugh says that the Falls of Shin outlet will allow Mac & Wild, which began as a street food stall, to work even more closely with its producers.
"At Falls of Shin, the seasons will dictate what is available to us at the restaurant," he said.
Invited guests were able to sample some of the dishes that will be available to diners.
Mac & Wild at Falls of Shin will open for evening meals on Fridays and Saturdays, but Mr Waugh hopes to increase the opening hours if there is a growth in demand.
