Forres butcher set for meaty battle
A FORRES butcher is preparing to take on Tesco in a meaty battle of the giants.
Macbeths who have a shop on Tolbooth Street, have been shortlisted in this year’s Grocer Gold Awards which could see them claim the crown as the Online Retailer of the Year.
Manager Jock Gibson said that he was astonished to have been shortlisted, considering that they are up against Tescos and Sainsburys and other well known names.
The awards recognise the best of the best in the grocery retail sector for service, initiative and commitment and the awards are now in their 9th year.
"These awards certainly seem to attract the bigger retailers, but we felt it was worth a shot entering," he said. "We wanted to see how we compared to others as we consistently get
good feedback from our customers regarding our website and the service that we provide."
Macbeth’s Butchers is a small family run business rearing their own grass-fed Scottish native breeds with a reputation for quality. They are one of the few butchers who still rear their own beef and mature it on the bone for a minimum of 21 days ensuring unparalleled security throughout its production from conception to consumption.
As well as running the retail shop in Forres and supplying restaurants UK wide, Macbeths offer a mail order service delivering fresh meat to private individuals across the UK.
Along with their own beef they source the highest quality lamb, pork, venison and game from local suppliers.
