CANCER survivors turned fashion icons for a night and raised £2000 for a research charity in the process.

A catwalk show organised by the Black Isle branch of Cancer Research featured participants from across Ross-shire and beyond. The audience was entertained by singer Fiona Kennedy while her cousin, Kristine Kennedy, was compere for the evening event at Jurys Inn in Inverness.

Anne MacIver of the Black Isle branch paid tribute to everyone who turned out and contributed, amongst them clothes supplier Georgina Innes of Brambles and Ink and Pink.

All of the models taking part have lived with cancer.

Ms MacIver said: "They are the inspiration for everyone else. It was a nice friendly, supportive atmosphere."

The event, the fifth of its kind, follows hot on the heels of a hugely successful golf day fundraiser hosted recently by Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club.

Among those taking part were Annabel Sutherland, Lynda Campbell, Carla Campbell, Val Maclean, Audrey MacCulloch, Brenda Irving, Dorothy Hannan, Nora Anderson, Angela Mair, Vi Ross, Linda Shaw, Leona Macdonald and Moira Stewart.
