ROSS-SHIRE motorists are being warned to be vigilant for falling debris resulting from high winds currently sweeping the Highlands.

Northern Constabulary have taken the step of issuing further advice to people travelling across the region as many routes are affected by falling debris as a result of the stormy conditions.

The A82 is particularly affected, with fallen branches and trees at various points. It is currently closed at Ballachulish, one mile south of Glencoe.

All other roads in the Highlands are are open at present, but many are experiencing disruption.

Police would like to encourage those travelling to make themselves aware of the latest forecast through www.metoffice.gov.uk and be aware that there is a risk of falling branches on tree lined roads.

If a member of the public find debris on the road which is causing a hazard, they are encouraged to call 0845 600 5703 to make police aware.
