DRIVERS are being warned in advance that an Easter Ross road will be closing to allow for the transporation of a heavy load.

The Highland Council has advised that the C1063 Invergordon to Tomich Junction road will be temporarily closed to all traffic from 10am to 12noon on Wednesday March 7.

The closure is necessary to allow a wide, tall and heavy load to be transported from the Invergordon Industrial Estate to the port of Invergordon, via Tomich and the A9 to Alness, and then along the B817 Shore road from Alness to Invergordon.

This route has been chosen as the most suitable for the heavy load.

On March 7 between 10am and 12 noon the vehicle and will have to stop on the Invergordon to Tomich road to await disconnection and reconnection of overhead power lines by SSE. This will be done in stages and there will be no disruption to power for customers.

A police escort will accompany the vehicle throughout the journey.

An alternative route into Invergordon via the A9 to Alness B817 will be available and should be used during the two hours when the C1063 road is closed.
