Police in Sutherland are appealing for information following the recovery of a large quantity of metal cables in the Pitgrudy area near Dornoch.

Approximately two tonnes of copper/nickel cable with a plastic coating was recovered yesterday morning.

The metal is believed to be MC sensor cable, most commonly used in the oil and gas industry.

Sergeant Matt Ravenhill said: “We are seeking to identify where the cable which has been recovered has come from.

“I would ask anyone with information which could help us to make contact.

“You can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference NE4924/18, or you can pass information on anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
