Win a chance to meet Neil Gaiman

IF proof were needed of writer Neil Gaiman’s rock star status among his fans, then selling out The Ironworks music venue in Inverness might just furnish it.

The good news is that although no more tickets are available for this special event with the UK’s biggest fantasy/science fiction writer, thanks to Waterstones Inverness who are staging the event, one reader and a friend will not only be there to see the final event of Gaiman’s British tour, they will also be able to jump the queue to meet the author.

One of Britain’s most successful authors, Gaiman’s work has encompassed comics, including his critically acclaimed Sandman series for DC, and both adult and children’s fiction.

The films Stardust and Coraline have been based on his books and he wrote the original screenplays for both Beowulf and MirrorMask, while for television he has written for science-fiction shows Doctor Who and Babylon 5 as well as creating the BBC serial Neverwhere.

For his Ironworks appearance on Wednesday 28th August, he will be interview on stage by Stuart Kelly, the literary editor of Scotland on Sunday and Man Booker Prize judge.

The event will also be filmed as part of a fly on the wall documentary on Gaiman’s UK tour.

As well as a chance to hear the author talk about his new book, The Ocean at The End of The Lane, the lucky winners will also be first in the queue to get their book signed.

The winning entrant must be available on the evening of Wednesday 28th of August for the event and signing, which begins at 6.30pm.

The winner will be chosen at random from all submissions. The responsibility of transportation to and from the venue falls entirely to the winner.

The hour long event will start with a reading, followed by Stuart Kelly’s interview. This will last approximately 30 minutes. The floor will then open to questions from the audience.

Following the main event, Gaiman will then sign every copy of The Ocean at the End of the Lane and one other item only, beginning with the competition winner.
