Moray teenager honoured for part in harbour rescue
ROTHES teenager Kyle Chapman (16) has been honoured for the part he played in trying to rescue a man who was in trouble in a harbour.
The former Speyside High pupil and friend Jordan Anderson, from Turriff, were at Macduff Harbour on July 11, last year, when they spotted a man in difficulty in the water.
Despite the brave actions of the teenagers the man sadly died later in hospital.
Macduff sisters Kaitlyn and Shannon Wilson helped calm the man's partner.
Kyle has been recognised by the Royal Humane Society for his actions and was presented with a Testimonial on Vellum by Lord Lieutenant of Moray, Grenville Johnston.
The other three teeangers received a similar award last month at a ceremony of the 2nd Battalion, The Highlanders Army Cadet force, of which they are all members.
Kyle said: "It was just instinct, it came to us straight away to go and help."
