A SPOOKILY good time is promised when a Ross-shire bookshop hosts an all-night open evening this Halloween.

Highflight Books on Dingwall’s High Street will be open from 9am tomorrow (Wednesday, October 31) to 5pm on Thursday.

A night of "great company, good craic and a few surprises" is promised by owner Bill Anderson.

It is his second all-night opening, following the success of a similar event in the summer.

Mr Anderson said it had been so successful he kept getting asked "when are you doing it again?".

"Halloween seemed to me the obvious time to keep open my door and help prepare for our long dark nights," he said. "I have invited people to drop in, in costume or as they are.

"While some surprises are planned some may just surprise – I am expecting the unexpected especially near the witching hour.

"For one day my normal 9-5 business hours will go out the window and you can browse 10,000 books at your leisure with all the time "out of this world’," he added.

Some night-time beverages will be available and bacon rolls in the morning – both of which were a particularly popular feature of the first all-night opening in the summer.
