Caley Jags too strong for Elgin City
ELGIN City's pre-season friendlies kicked off on Saturday with a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Premier League Caley Thistle.
A hat-trick from Irishman Richie Foran proved too much for Ross Jack's Third Division side at Borough Briggs.
With four key players missing due to injury, Jack fielded a number of players from his youth ranks and praised them, for their contribution.
"We gave the opportunity for some of the young boys to play, which was good," he said. "Overall it was a good workout for us, and things will really take shape over the next few weeks,"
New signings Stuart Leslie and Daniel Moore showed up well in their first City appearance, but the most impressive performance came from teenage goalkeeper Zander Clark, who has joined the club on loan from St Johnstone.
Clark made two outstanding stops from Tom Sutherland and Gavin Morrison in the second half, after Foran's treble had put the Inverness men in charge.
Foran netted with an overhead kick on 34 minutes, and scored twice in two minutes just after the half time interval.
Elgin's next friendly matches are against Highland League opposition as they visit Clach on Friday, July 8, followed by an away match at Fraserburgh the following day and a trip to Rothes on July 13.
