Perfect timing for Strathpeffer Rush tribute
WITH veteran rockers Rush just voted greatest live act in the world today, Strathpeffer Pavilion can offer a taste of the music on July 1.
Three-piece Rush tribute Moving Pictures, named after one of the band's best-known albums, head into the venue next Friday on July 1.
With the Canadian band's career spanning 37 years, the tribute concentrates on the era from Fly By Night (1975) to Signals (1982).
Guitarist Steve Brown, one of the three friends in Moving Pictures including vocalist, bassist and keyboard-player Keith Burns, Mark Bray drums and percussion, explained: "We try to keep to the 70s and early 80s sound of classic producer Terry Brown era Rush,” says Steve.
“The only area we don't emulate is the lead vocals - even Rush themselves are hard pushed to sing that high these days!"
The three have played in bands togther for 15 years and decided to put together the tribute band out of their sheer love of Rush and their music.
Their repertoire includes five of the seven tracks from the Moving Pictures album.
They also use authentic instruments, such as an Alex Lifeson Signature Gibson ES 355 and the 6-12 doubleneck guitar being played by Steve in the picture.
