Thurso is aiming to become the watersports capital of the UK.

PLANS to build a watersports centre in Thurso are to be discussed at a public meeting later this month.

Caithness Sports Facilities Ltd is looking for feedback on its proposal to build the Thurso Harbour Centre to strengthen the town’s bid to become the watersports capital of the UK.

Full planning permission has already been granted by Highland Council to build a watersports arena at the town’s harbour to cater for sports such as surfing, sailing, canoeing and jet-skiing.

The project committee is asking members of the public, as well as local businesses, to complete an online survey to enable it to apply for funding for the £650,000 development.

The public meeting will be held at the Pentland Hotel on Wednesday, January 29, at 7pm.

The survey is available at www.surveymonkey.com
