Father thanks teenager who helped injured daughter
A FATHER has issued an online appeal to find one of two boys who helped his daughter after she suffered a head injury while playing outside.
Alex Fraser from Ashton Road, Inverness used Facebook to thank the youngsters who came to the aid of his daughter Leah (6) after she hurt herself when she fell onto metal railings.
The incident occurred at the Golden Bridge steps before 6pm at Raigmore last Sunday (August 12).
One of the boys who helped see her safely home has been identified as a local eight-year-old, but the identity of the older boy is still unknown despite Mr Fraser’s post being shared more than 650 times.
The younger boy, who lives near Leah, was able to tell the older boy where she lived and they both escorted her to her parents’ house.
Self-employed electrician Mr Fraser said the quick-thinking older lad had wrapped his jacket around Leah’s head in a bid to stop the bleeding.
The family still have the jacket and are hoping to return it.
Mr Fraser said: "My partner and I were at home when we heard someone at the door. Leah was standing back and it was the older boy who had knocked. When we saw her we rushed her off to hospital straight away."
Leah’s mother Corinne Bain took her to Raigmore Hospital where she had her head glued.
Leah is now feeling better but Mr Fraser said he did not get to thank the boys properly at the time.
"The feedback we’ve been getting on the Facebook post has been amazing," he said.
"This boy has given young people a positive name for his actions. You often hear about negative things young people have done, but this is something good."
Mr Fraser believes the older boy is around 14 or 15 years old and may be local too.
It is thought he was wearing a Sports Direct-branded T-shirt.
