Two dead after A9 accident

TWO people were killed and another person was seriously injured after a two-vehicle road accident on the A9 near Kingussie on Monday night.

The incident happened at around 9.30am about seven miles south of Aviemore. Two occupants of the vehicles sustained fatal injuries, while a third occupant was rushed to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses, and particularly a female driver of a dark coloured Range Rover who was driving south on the A9 at the time of the collision.

The road was closed for seven hours while investigations got underway.

No further details are being released until next of kin have been informed.
