A FAR north crofter has suffered another brutal attack on her flock from a mystery predator.

Lorna Mackay found the savaged carcase of one of her ewes in a field near her home at Invernaver last Friday.

It was the 16th member of her flock of North Country Cheviots and Blackfaces to end up with with its throat ripped out and part of its shoulder ripped away..

Miss Mackay has started using a set of night vision cameras to try and get a sighting of the large, cat-like creature she believes is responsible for the carnage.

They failed to failed to pick up the latest overnight attack and she now plans sitting up through the night to try and spot the attacker using a set of night vision binoculars.

“If staying up all night is what it takes to find out what is attacking my flock, that’s what I’ll do,” she said.

“I have had several people get in touch to say they have spotted big cats in the area and have notified the police. I think that’s the most likely culprit.”

Miss Mackay has had to travel to Dingwall to buy replacements for her flock because of the losses.
