Rain failed to dampen the spirits of those who gathered for Brough Bay Association’s picnic day on Sunday.

The stove in the lighthouse store roared while picnickers enjoyed tea, cakes and music from a host of musicians.

Susanne Lloyd-Jones got the afternoon under way with a series of tunes on her clarsach. Chris and Pete Nicol played accordion and several ukuleles, while Joanne Kaar entertained with both a solo flute performance and a duet with Chris.

Several children delivered impressive performances of poems and music.

A prize raffle added to the enjoyment and raised over £170 to help with the maintenance of the bay.

After almost three hours of entertainment, George Pain finished off the afternoon by playing several fiddle tunes to send guests on their way out into the rain watched by seals in the bay.
